Koblenz.
This is a powerful city, not because it has contributed hugely to
humanity but because it is the place where the Mighty Mosel meets the Regal
Rheine. Between them they drain water from the whole of eastern Europe, a life
line for millions and a livelihood for thousands.
But this is not why I’ll remember Koblenz, I’ll remember it as the place
where I thought we’d blown Helga’s electrics!
Margaret was using her hair drier without the engine running, and
totally drained the two 110aH leisure batteries. None of the onboard stuff worked and while we were due to go to a
campsite for laundry etc, we weren’t necessarily going today.
Anyway, we got to the site, a divine place set in the Lahn Valley, and
again by the riverside, although not the Mosel, the river Lahn is prettier
because it’s a smaller version.
Hooked up to the leccy and waited for Goddo, well, not Goddo, but
certainly divine inspiration, or is it aspiration?
We got the awning out along with the recliner and table and watched as
the ducks went on with their hectic lives. It was a joy too just do nothing, we’ve
been busy up to now, but have done nothing.
After a couple of hours checked the electrics and still nothing, I’d
visions of having to shell out for two new batteries. Later on Margaret turned
the main switches off, just I’d done about three times earlier. Et voile, we
had power. Took the touch of a lady, but then the previous day I locked the
keys in the garage, and this is where I discovered how to get into the garage
from the bedroom! Another adventure indeed.
Sunset.
So after our lazy easy day today is Wednesday, our fourteenth day on the
road. We’ve come to the end of the amazing Mosel Valley, so we’re going to
drive well south to start the Romantic Road part tomorrow.
Sunrise almost, it beat me again!
