Well that was Austria.
Apart from our night, day, in the Tyrol, I didn’t take to Austria. I found the people away from the touristy bits, ignorant, aloof and extremely unhelpful. We might call in to Vienna in a few days because we will be passing quite near. Salzburg is a nice city, the best bit for me was the Mirabell Gardens.
The day of our visit we parked up very near the centre and strolled about for four hours, maybe not long enough to see the old town in all its glory, but it did us. The campsite we picked was run by a lady who didn’t want to be there, know the feeling, and we were the only motorhome there, Maybe two or three old caravans in use. The views were stunning, but they came at a price! Lake Wolfgang, where the camp sat, is as clear as a glass of tap water, with diving pontoons and steps down into the water at the 1 metre mark.
Our original intention was to stay for a about 3-4 days, but we just continued the drive east and reached the Czech Republic.
The difference between the two countries is chalk and cheese. Austria’s superior roads were missed as soon as we crossed the invisible border.
Anyway, we’ve had such a fantastic time in the past two days it will need a whole new entry.

I’ll post this today and start the next edition tomorrow morning while M is asleep!
